When I heard Google, the largest and most comprehensive search engine available, was releasing their very own web browser, Chrome, I grew rather excited. Knowing that the working conditions of Google promote creativity to the maximum, I thought for sure that they would come out with something that would top my current favorite browser, Mozilla Firefox. I would say I love Firefox about as much as I hate Internet Explorer, which is quite a bit. Being a web designer, I've come to grow a strong dislike for Internet Explorer and everything about it. I was hoping that Google could top it off with Chrome, but I'm sad to say they have disappointed me. Immediately when Chrome started up, my face grew of distress. The look and feel is almost identical to the most recent Internet Explorer, but just a little watered down. The lack of a bookmark toolbar was also a turn off for me. In Firefox, I use this feature all the time. It makes for a much fast web browsing experience.

Now it isn't ALL bad. It is a very light weight program and is very simple. It would be perfect for Grandma Jane to check her email and get those touching family photos. It's very simple and straight forward, much more than probably any other browser. The memory foot print is also very low. It is considerably lower than both Internet Explorer and Firefox, so you can rest in peace if you're old browser sucked all the energy out of your out-of-date PC. The tabbed feature is also pretty good. I wouldn't say it's better than Firefox, but it's right up there. It's a bit similar to Internet Explorers version of tabbed browsing, but I think it's better laid out.

All in all, I don't think it's a terrible browser, but it was a major disappointment to me. I was looking for something innovative, but came up empty handed. I see there to be lots of potential in the Google company to produce a much better browser in the future, but I'd say their first shot was a miss in my opinion. If you've downloaded it, let me know your opinions too, I'm curious to know what others think of it too.

Thank you for reading my journal, I really appreciate you taking the time and would like you to enjoy my gallery if you haven't already. I really appreciate comments and critiques  Thanks again, Gavin.
